What’s the best way to store a Remington 870 for long-term storage?
Hey everyone, I’m planning to put my Remington 870 into long-term storage for a few months (possibly even a year), and I want to ensure I do it correctly to prevent rust or any damage. Do you guys have any tips or personal routines for prepping, cleaning, and storing it properly? Do you recommend a gun sock, case, or any particular products? I would appreciate any advice you can share — thank you in advance!

First, a through cleaning.
There are several specific long term storage gun oils on the market, like Breakfree, Froglube, Birchwood-Casey, etc.
Here's an article by a guy who tested over 40 products, it's a long read.

Of course a decent safe with humidity control will go a long way in preserving your firearms.
Then there is the old tried and true Cosmoline. Works really well, but it's hell to remove.
