Front end assembly won’t come out (nut off)

Post by Yatescr »

I have an 1991 870 Wingmaster, one of the arms of the front end assembly tube broke, I want to replace front end assembly tube, saving wood forend. The nut is off, but tube will not “slide” out, or “beat” out! Any ideas? Please help.
Thanks!

What we teach in Armorer courses is to use some Kroil (creeping Oil) and apply it along the top of the forearm wood where you see a machined gap in the wood, letting the Kroil get under the wood forend around the action bar assembly tube, give the Kroil a chance to work its way under things.

Then leave the spanner nut off the action bar assembly tube, and reinstall the action bar assembly (No spanner nut) with the bolt and slide back into the receiver, and reinstall the barrel with magazine retaining cap. With the gun reassembled, slide the action to the rear, then slam the action forward with some force like you were using a slide hammer (Dent puller) to do body work on a vehicle). This slam forward of the action make take a time or two, but you should see the forend separate from the action bar about 1/4" sliding forward. Once the forarm has slid forward about 1/4", then remove the barrel like normal, and then you should be able to remove the forearm from the action bar assembly tube.
