Lyman Slug Reloads
Lyman Slug Reloads
Sighted in my 870 with 18" IC smoothbore slug barrel. Started at 25, then 50, then 100. Wouldnt want to be a garbage can at 100 yd but squirrels are likely safe. Can't expect too much using sight where front bead is likely 8 MOA. Slugs are home-cast 525 gr that look like giant air rifle pellets. Sure puts the smack on plywood target holder, though.

Pictures of slugs and garbage can would be fun.

Yea, I've been intrigued by those Russian slug molds you see advertised. They look awesome.

Re: Lyman Slug Reloads
Here is a slug. Don't know anything about any "Russian" slugs but these American lead slugs cast by an American on an American made Lyman mould seem to work well enough. Is there a reason to go with Russian options?

Here is the card I put in the ammo can. Refer to an actual book, mine is in attic or I'd photo actual published data. This card should represent a published load but I make no guarantee. My team of lawyers tell me I should say that.

They get awesome reviews for both performance and accuracy, although the molds can be spendy and the shipping time from Russia is a factor. Still, one replicates a Guilandi slug and one model looks like a Lyman clone.

Re: Lyman Slug Reloads
Gave my Lyman mould to a friend when I was preparing to move (already had a 50 cal can full of reloads). I'd sure like to buy it back now that I'm having fun with them.

						Re: Lyman Slug Reloads
It's a New Years miracle. Decided to dig through some boxes still out in my wood shed from when we moved down here 18 months ago. Found a few hundred 30 cal hunting bullets, other reloading oddball things, AND MY LYMAN SLUG MOULD! Had some surface rust from storing basically outside in a tin roof shack but cavity is perfect. Tossed it in some Evapo-Rust for a couple of hours, good as new.
So today I ordered a 20 lb bottom pour Lee pot, which was a nice price but back ordered. Back in slug business soon.

Nice! I'm currently sourcing lead casting pots, is this the Lee Production Pot V (I think it's called)?ChillyB wrote: Fri Jan 01, 2021 9:40 pm So today I ordered a 20 lb bottom pour Lee pot, which was a nice price but back ordered. Back in slug business soon.

Re: Lyman Slug Reloads
Maybe. As far as I know there is a 10# and 20# bottom pour production pot.
