Another Hello From Texas
Recently was able to get my hands on an 870 and have used this site to look up information and like others, decided to join.
My 870 is an express magnum. I’m right now trying to determine the date of manufacture and will probably wind up calling Remington as I’m seeing information and numbers that don’t jive.
I like my wood grain stock and the barrel is 20”. The PO cut it down from the standard length which is ok by me. What I like about the 870 is that I can, fairly reasonably, buy and swap out barrels depending on my usage.

Well. The site already helped and I was able to confirm that it’s a 1994 870 based on the barrel number and the serial number prefix.

Let’s see if these pics work.
Well, says the files are too large so I’ll have to work on it and post some pics.

Most of us use a file-hosting website, like https://imgur.com/ just to host the photos, then you just embed a hyperlink back to that photo so the website doesn't become cluttered with image files.Piratesailor wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:53 am Well, says the files are too large so I’ll have to work on it and post some pics.

Sometimes just cropping the image will do the job of making it small enough for uploadPiratesailor wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:53 am Let’s see if these pics work.

Huh.. ok. I’ll check that out. Been too busy lately to do much of anything.
I did take it out the back pasture and threw a few rounds at a cardboard box to site in the new red dot. Worked great! Love it.
I have some of the low recoil 9 pellet 00 so i used that. New 28” barrel on the way for some trap next month.
Want to get a mag extension and after that it will be the way I want it.

Must be nice to be able to just go out (near by) and pop off rounds for testing gearPiratesailor wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:40 pm

It is indeed. I’m a member of a shooting club but also have an area were I can shoot in the back pasture. The only issue is I usually have to move the horses to another pasture and that can be a PITA. Unless it’s feeding time.
Definitely liking this shotgun. Very versatile.

That was the joy of growing up on a farm in PA, where we never lacked for somewhere to go shoot. But I do have a scar on my forearm where my sister's horse chased me across a barbed-wire fence. Horse thought it was funny, but I sure didn't. That farm is ringed with suburb houses now, such a shame. Kids these days don't get those experiences.Piratesailor wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:23 pm The only issue is I usually have to move the horses to another pasture and that can be a PITA.
