870 Expsress Magnum barrel options

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have an 870 Express Magnum 20 ga. I was told that there were some modifications made to some new models and the I can't just use any 870 barrel. Is this true. Thank you in advance for your help.

I would be surprised if Remington did that to themselves. Your best bet is to call customer service.
