Hey, new to the forum. Looks like really good information here. Just bought the 870 tactical 6+1 18" barrel. Adding the Magpul stock and forend. Thought I needed all those heavy duty springs, but after reading here, I don't think I do. Think I want sling mounts, but not sure which ones. Also flashlight mount and a flashlight. Those lights are really great, but dang expensive! Any suggestions on good inexpensive light, or is there one ?
Thanks for any and all information

Re: 870 additions so far
As far as cheap lights go, I recently purchased a Nebo iProTec RM190 light that seems to be pretty good, especially for just over $30 on Amazon. I use it on both my Glock 31, and my 870 using one of those cheap little 5-position 1913 rail units that clamp to the mag tube or a mag extension with a standard 1" OD. If you have the Magpul fore-end, you could also mount it there with one of the little add-on rail segments they make for it. It's got a pretty good quick-release that lets you install and remove it easily, and it adjusts to fit different rail standards. I don't really care for the strobe function that much, but since it's the constant light that always comes on first (the strobe comes on after an additional off-on cycle), it's not that big of a deal.
As the price suggests, this is not something you'd want to go to war with, and you should probably take it off for practice sessions too, but it should easily stand up long enough to empty your magazine at an intruder. Battery life isn't awesome either (personally, I would prefer less brightness if it meant a longer run-time), but again, it's fine for the role it was intended for. Just order an extra battery or two if you're like me, and can't resist playing with the thing. I'll note that I haven't actually taken it to the range yet, just bedside duty and midnight snack ops so far, but you can find plenty of internet reviews on this little light that attest to it standing up well enough for limited live-fire use on a HD gun.

Well, alright. I will look into that light, although I'll probably end up getting one of those really good expensive ones.
Thanks, again for your input.
