An Alaskan says HI Folks

Post by ArtBrownSr »

I'm an Alaskan import ( been here almost 20 years ) from Western Washington.
My 870's include and OLD Wingmaster that was abused BEFORE it came into my possession ( it is now an 18 1/2 inch barreled 2 3/4 in. chamber home defense gun), and a newer ( 16 year old) Express with 3 in. chamber. I use the Express as my meat getter, for every thing from squirrel to ptarmagin, waterfowl, and bear defense on our fishing trips and larger game hunts ( some one in our party is always standing buy while harvesting or dressing game in case of brown bear activity.)

Welcome to the forum.

Where in Alaska do you live? I lived down in the panhandle for almost ten years as a kid. Great place to grow up.

A 12-ga shotgun is a pretty potent bear defense tool. What's your preferred type of load? Foster slugs? Brenneke? Something else?

I live in Anchorage at present but spent most of my time north of the city in Chugiak. My favorite bear load is Brenneke Black Magic (3"), I've also used the Brenneke Rotwieler ( 2 1/2").
I've posted a pic of it with my side saddle in the thread pictures of your 870. Here: http://www.rem870.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... &start=260
