Hello from Italy

Post by Viper »

Hello everyone, this is Marco from North Italy (60km east of Milano). I am 44, and of course proud owner of a Remington 870 (it is an Expree 12 gauge with some custom parts on it). Bu t just for a while, becuase next Friday I'll bring home the 2nd one, it is a Tactical brand new.
I had a Mossberg 590 SPX only, then got the first 870 second handed and Bang! Light was ON! I decided to sell the Mossberg and then found out that the Tactical was about to be available and you know how it goes..
I will need suggestion about customizing the Tactical, only problem is that many suppliers of after market parts don't ship to Italy (Brownells is the first one of them). I can find some parts by italian dealer of MESA and some other on Midway Italy (quite expensive but not much you can do about it)..
Ciao
Marco 8-)

Mesa and Brownells have some great stocks, shell carriers and add on or replacement sights and optics.

Benvenuti al forum.

Which 870 Tactical model did you order?

S&J Hardware would probably be worth checking out. They have a pretty good selection of combat shotgun parts, and I know they'll ship to at least some of Europe.

The wood stock one is the oldest, the other is teh new one on arrival. The stock of the new one looks not bad, but I am already thinking about a Magpul SGA mmmmm

Bienvenido/Bemvindo/Bienvenutti (sp?!)!

Welcome. Enjoy your Remington 870. I'm about to take my third tactical/defensive course with my plain 870 Express synthetic. This will be the first time I get an extended workout with my EOTech IFL installed. I don't think the course calls for lights much, but still it will be interesting for me just to see how the ergonomics of the forend work out. Good luck and good shooting to you!

Welcome, Marco! We're glad you found us!!

Love the lumber on the "old" 870. I wish my wife's 20 gauge looked htat good. It will, one day.

I have a Tactical also, one with the factory six round magazine, so I don't need an extension. Barrel is a plain jane version with unthreaded cyliner bore and front bead sight only. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Thanks everyone, regarding the "old" 870 I don't want to take credit, the only good thing I did was just grab it as soon as I saw it on sale on a web site :D
Unfortunately, unless you play some IPSC shotgun division, there is not much other ways to have fun with the pump shotgun. I go evry given Sunday to the range but it is not really equipped for shotgun. The only chance is to take a pistol line and shoot the paper target.. could be much better. But still love shotguns and so here we are 8-)
Mi first one was a Benelli M3, worked really fine but it was a hunting/home defence version, not "tactical" enough 8-)

Welcome. Nice 870, and good choice on the new one. I can definitely say that you'd really like the Magpul Stock over the factory synthetic, they are great stocks! As far as not much to do with a pump, try finding a place out in the woods and setup you own little practice range. Bring a couple plywood squares and a little paint, and bring some paper or cardboard targets, some paint cans or whatever. Set em up at different distances, and have some fun. I prefer shooting in the "field" over the range anyday. Enjoy your new 870!

Thanks Automag, actually I am just thiking about the Magpul stuff: better black or desert tan? That's my only concern. Regarding the possibility to make your own range, I woul love that but unless you live on top of a hill far from everyone, the moment you start to shoot there would be some smart asses calling the police and then you are in d. s.
Tomorrow morning anyway I'll be shooting the old 870 to the range and I am determined to have some rock & roll :D

That sucks that you can't get out and shoot oudoors. I myself have to drive 70 kilometers to where i practice, and also hunt when it's the season. I did'nt know the gun laws or regulations in Italy. Maybe you can figure out where to be able to get out and do some shooting somehow, but even here, city dwellers have to use the Range. That 1st 870 you have really does have some awesome looking wood furniture on it, as well as a few nice upgrades, good looking gun! As far as Magpul Black or Tan (FDE) goes, i like the black look, but the Tan Stock Set does give your shotgun a really cool look too. So many choices-lol. Anyway, Good Luck and have fun!
