New guy from Kansas - about as 'Merica as you can get

Post by The_DevinG »

So, Hey, I'm a new guy - with an 870!

So, recently went and bought my first gun, I have other guns, I just didnt technically "buy" them.
My new shotgun is a Remington 870 Super-Mag 28" vent-rail barrel. (Yes, this thing shoots the beastly 3 1/2 " round)
My other guns include, a Remington R700 SPS .308, still completely stock, its synthetic, of course it's bolt action, and has a 3-12x40 scope on it, with mil-dots for up to 600 yards. And, so far the farthest I've used it at was 300 yards with a pretty strong side-wind, and it was hitting 7/10 times, the errors were due to changing wind velocities and me.
Oh, and my trustly .22 Marlin 795, got a Bushnell 4x32 scope on it. Pretty good, lots of fun to shoot bottles and whatever other interesting targets I can think of.

My plans for the shotgun are pretty simple.
Plan on getting another vent-rib barrel, having it cut down to 18-19 inches and re-threaded for Rem-chokes. (I may experiment and use this barrel for turkeys as well). And I wanna throw on a +2 mag tube extension, add a ammo saddle to the receiver, and finally, mount a good flashlight on the mag tube.

I'm not gonna change the hand-guard or the stock, it's probably the nicest looking wood I've seen on a shotgun and I have seen several shotguns done exactly like this and love the look, functionality, and simplicity of it.

My shotgun (sorry for mediocre picture quality, my room sucks for light and for a good surface to take a picture, will try and remember to take one outside sometime on a more appropriate background)

Oh, and I got my feet in that pic.... awesome.

Future shotgun? (I did jack these off of another thread, so if you recognize yours, thanks for the inspiration)
