NOT SURE WHERE TO PUT THIS QUESTION

ok guys (and gals) I am rather unsure of where to put this question... I was thinking it should go in gunsmithing and repair... but I feel that I will get a better response.

So my brother got his AR engraved with our little thing... the Jolly Roger with the saying "Dead Men Tell No Tales"

However all the parts he got engraved were things like the dust door, trigger guard, charging handle, etc.. I would like to get the receiver on my 870 engraved with the same thing. I do know that work on a receiver requires a license but does that include engraving.

Could anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

PS This is something we do as my brother and I are 2200 miles apart and have not seen him in years... firearms and zombies are all we have. LOL

Apart from no-brainers like changing the serial number, you should have no issues putting decorative engraving on your receiver. I can't speak for all locations, but there's an engraving shop in my town here in Idaho, and they do custom work on firearms all the time. If you want to be sure, ask the folks at your engraving place; they should know any local laws concerning firearm engraving.

Thanks for the advice Synch.. as usual. LOL I was only wondering as I have never had any decorative work done on a receiver and just needed someone to point me in the right direction.
