Hello every one I just wanted to introduce my self. My name is James. I have a Remington 870 supermag and trying to see if it will accept 3 1/2 inch shells. the ending suffix on the receiver is a B. it is chamber in 12 gauge and the barrel states it can use 2 3/4 or 3 inch 3 1/2 inch can be used if it has a supermag receiver. can any one help me decipher if this will run the 3 1/2 inch shells

I think you've answered your own question. 3 1/2" shells need a Supermag receiver and a barrel indicating 3 1/2" shells. Are both so marked?

If you, or someone else, has changed the barrel you should confirm with the barrel markings. If you bought your 870 new from the factory you will be fine but since you asked, I'd confirm by looking at the markings on the barrel.

yes the receiver is stamped Remington 870 super mag. and on the barrel it reads " 12 GA 2 3/4'" OR 3". 3 1/2 only with super mag receivers
