Recently purchased an after market 870 Express 28" Barrel. To my surprise the choke system on this barrel is not Remington Choke or Rem Pro-Bore Choke. Does me no-good bc I only have the Remington Chokes (too many to count). I looked in the Carlson' Choke Catalog and they list a third Remington choke as "Remington Spartan" WTF is this? I'm not buying a set of new chokes. I can see me screwing something up real quick. Does anyone have experience with this Spartan Choke?

Remington 870 Chokes
Re: Remington 870 Chokes
New here, but have been an 870 fan for 45 years. Never heard of a different choke?
Any chance the barrel was cut and re-threaded ? Or is it an aftermarket barrel??

Re: Remington 870 Chokes
@TW Fish - regarding that "Spartan" listing, I believe those are strictly for the Baikal-made SPR imports Remington sold years ago (which usually take Tru-Chokes). If your barrel fits a standard 870 receiver but won't take Rem-Chokes, is it possible you bought a Target Sports or similar unbranded aftermarket barrel?TW Fish wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 9:16 pm Recently purchased an after market 870 Express 28" Barrel. I've heard a lot of those aftermarket 870 barrels actually use Browning Invector / Win-Choke threads rather than Remington ones. Do you happen to have a Mossberg 500 or Winchester choke lying around to test the threads gently?
