Hello,
I just bought Remington 870. After I work the pump, I can pull it back and the breech opens like 1/2”. I know this is not normal, but can’t figure out what the problem is. Any thoughts?

Re: Remington 870 action issue
Did you buy this as a new or used gun? Have you field stripped or disassembled anything, and cleaned an/or lubricated anything? Any chance you can you post a pic of what you are talking about, showing the ejection port, along with a pic of the left side of the trigger group when its doing this?

Re: Remington 870 action issue
Hi Kevin,
Your Remington 870’s breech opening slightly after pumping could be due to a faulty action bar lock, incomplete cycling, or a defect in the bolt or action bars. You can try firmly racking the pump, inspect and clean the action.

Re: Remington 870 action issue
Just got my Remington 870 and encountering a weird issue. After pumping, the breech only opens halfway. Feels like I'm stuck in some kind of real-life Infinite Craft scenario, trying to combine the wrong elements! Anyone familiar with this problem? Could it be a linkage issue, or something else entirely? Any advice appreciated before I take it to a gunsmith.

First, you could have posted your own thread, but, whatever.curtmarvikk wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 6:58 am Just got my Remington 870 and encountering a weird issue. Second, don't post gamer links in your posts. Makes me think you're here for the link, not the discussion.
