blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
So I ordered the gen II for my 870 from Amazon. First package had the forend missing so I had to send it back and get a replacement. I installed the replacement and I was trying to push on the stock to see the recoil reduction in action. I noticed on some youtube videos that the gen I springs could be moved just by putting some pressure on the stock. My gen II feels like it is completely frozen. It doesn't move at all even when I put most of my weight on the stock. I contacted Blackhawk and they said that it is normal for the gen II. It just feels like there would be no recoil reduction at all becuase the stock does not move one bit. Can anyone else with the gen II installed let me know if they are able to move the stock by putting some pressure on it. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet because I am waiting for my sig to come in so I can take both of them out. Looking forward to hearing from you guys that have the gen II installed.

Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
doesn't sound right to me ...if the spring is that strong will the recoil have any effect on it.... did you talk to the operator who answered.... I ask becaue I had an issue with my springfield XD and the first person i spoke with tried to explain the problem away as being a "new firearm that needed breaking in" once i spoke to a tech (gunsmith) an actual problem was discovered..... please let us know what you find out.

I actually got it to compress this morning. I placed it butt side down and pressed down on the barrel. Got it to comress less then 1/2 an inch, but it did move.
Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
I just installed mine, leaned on it to get it to move. Set the butt on the ground, put weight on it, it moved, not a whole lot, but it moved. I'd ASSume it will loosen up a bit after shooting a few rounds through it, don't want it TOO loose to start. Hope I'll get a chance to shoot it this coming weekend.
Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
I'm not even sure mine moved the 1/2 inch. but it budged. Going to try to do the same this weekend. I'll let you know if it loosens up some.

Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
I made the mistake of buying the Spec Ops Gen II NRS instead of the regular RS (Recoil Suppressing). Now im stuck with the $80 dollar stock that does not suppress recoil at all. Just looks cool....Anyone have any insight on how/where I could buy the spring that would fit where it should actually be? So pissed

Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
I did the same thing, but was able to return the stock. Where did you buy yours? I think it was cheaperthandirt.com where I sent it back to. Found the recoil reducing one at http://www.emergencyresponderproducts.c ... hstge.html for $96.50. I don't think you can get the springs separate. The stocks are didferent as far as where the rear spring goes back up in it.
Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
Merry Christmas!! So I ordered the Spec Ops Gen 2 a couple days ago. Curious to hear what unfolds cause im about to slap that baby on. I was mainly looking to see if anyone had any tips, concerns,, or vids. Im about 98% sure I ordered the Recoil Suppression model. Better Have! LOL. Doesnt look like too tough an install??? Im planning on using mine as a MF'n pogo stick anyways... Thats a good pre break in right? But seriously, I ordered mine fro Amazon as well. Hopping to do a vid tutorial in a few days. Thanx for any feedback.
Re: blackhawk knoxx spec ops generation II question
You'll know right away without opening the package if you did. First, it has "NRS" on the packing in the title of the stock. If you see this, you don't have the recoil suppression system. Second, if you see the red tip of the retention wrench sticking out the front of the stock, you have the recoil reducing stock. And last of all, if the butt pad looks nice and thick, (about 1 inch or so), you got what you ordered.
Hope you get what you were hoping for. It is a sweet stock.
