Re: bullet lube
Bullet lube helps with sealing, and limits leading when shooting unjacketed lead bullets in rifled barrels. The physics and mechanisms involved in this are pretty interesting, this page goes into a lot of detail if you're interested.
As smoothbore firearms that operate at relatively low pressures, shotgun barrels are far less susceptible to leading. Furthermore, shotgun slug loads use gas seals to provide the sealing, rather than the projectile itself, so gas cutting and other leading mechanisms are not really a concern. On top of all that, many slugs like the Lee Drive Key Slugs are sub-gauge projectiles that are meant to be used with plastic shot cups or some other type of sabot or spacer, so they aren't even making contact with the barrel on their way through it. The same goes for the majority of slugs designed for use in rifled shotgun barrels.
So, no, there's no need to lube your shotgun slugs. It shouldn't hurt anything, but it's not necessary.
