New Member Introductions

Post by Mainer »

I recently purchased a used 870 Tactical. It is my first pump. After down loading the owners manual, I watched the T&T #09 video. It is the best
"how to" video I've seen on any subject.
Per Remington my shotgun was manufactured in 2015. My barrel is stamped 'IO' which didn't make sense. 1994? No 'I' in the month list. It has to be upside down 'OI' equals July 2015.
Great shotgun and I am looking forward to learning a lot from this site and putting some rounds thru it.

PS How would I add pictures to these posts?

As far as I understand it, "J" is the letter for 2015; "I" should be 2014. But keep in mind that barrel date codes are often not stamped very well. I've seen many barrels with garbled or partially-stamped letters. A badly-stamped "J" could very well look like an "I".

Thank you for the replies. Looking closer at the stamp it does seem to fade at the bottom of the letters.
