I am just wondering want is a good follower for the Choate +3 Mag tube kit. I am getting one here soon and have read not to many good things about the one that comes with it. I have a GG&G stainless follower (see pic) will this one work with the Choate +3 mag tube kit better than the one with it. If anyone has any suggestion on other followers that you have used in this mag tube kit, thanks for the information and replies.

Re: Followers
Is the Choate extension a single-piece? Followers with a triple-bearing-band shape are not the most reliable choice for magazine configurations that have gaps in the tube. Whenever one of the end bands is unsupported, the follower is able to cant inside the tube to a much greater degree, making it more likely to hang up.
The Vang Comp stainless steel follower uses a similar bearing surface design, and when I induced canting during testing with Wilson Combat & Vang Comp extensions (both of which are single-piece designs), it hung up so frequently and severely during simulated loading that I couldn't even examine its snag propensity during feeding because it was impossible to get it past the transition.

Re: Followers
I like the S&J plastic followers. They come in 3 styles and 2 colors. Never had a problem with them hangin' up in the mag tube. I prefer the type 2 in the green color for extended mag tubes, easy to see and feel.
I had one of the Choate orange followers in a 870 for probably 20 years, never had a problem with it either. I would suggest you cut off the long tail and maybe leave it about an inch long to hold the mag spring.

I use Vang Comp follower with Choate mag tube. I had to polish sharp edges to have smooth feeding, after this - everything was ok.

Thanks for the information, I will look into cutting that Choate follower tail down to just a inch in length.
