There are several heatshields available for Remington 870. Which one do you use? Why do you have it installed on your shotgun?

I don't have one yet but I am going to make one out of SS for the very fact that Barrels can get very hot.
I have been known for reloading ammo and go though All of it all at once.

cv0lv0g0, what sights do you have on your shotung? I know that heatshield looks better on a shotgun with bead sight only.
BTW, nice animation in signature!

could use it on I may try to make one like it though it was the last shot also.

I have a Remington rifle sight barrel with meprolight sights.
I don't really care how it looks just as long as it does it's purpose.

Anyone have any thoughts on ATI's heatshield with built in ghost ring? I was looking at adding both a headshield and a site anyway. Might be an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

In my opinion money spent on a heat shield could be used for better accessories or ammo.

I don't have a heat shield but I may fit one on soon. After shooting a bunch, I rolled the gun over to reload and grabbed the barrel and yeah it was hot

thats is a pretty sweet heat shield. has an agressive look too. Not too sure about the sights though. First time you bump it on something its prolly gonna throw your sight picture off.
If you break into my house, be quiet, or ill wake up and unload on you.

I like the non sighted one but not sure if my rear factory rifle sight on the 18.5 barrel will clear it and be usable..... might drop a line to ATi and see what the height of the shield is at the point where rear sight is attached to barrel.... if anyone has any other info let us know.....Mrke1 wrote:Anyone have any thoughts on ATI's heatshield with built in ghost ring? Heat shields have gotten my attention as well and I have looked at the model you are asking about - my main concern is the included sights what happens when you bump the gun barrel on anything? It seems to have sort of a "floating" mount that would by its nature have some wiggle throwing your sights off.
I have seen pics of heat shields modified by opening up a hole for the barrel mounted sights by joining 3 or 4 of the vents - anyone have any experience with this?
