Been an 870 user for almost 40 years. My dad gave me a 20 gauge Wingmaster Magnum with three barrels when I was nine. Over the years I have owned many 12 gauge 870's and used them primarily for hunting. These days I have several stashed around my rural home for predators of the two legged variety. I have an early Express with factory wood that I had the 26" vent ribbed barrel cut to 20", forcing cone lengthened and threaded for choke tubes. Scattergun Technology Trijicon sights were installed, along with a 1-round Scattergun Technology extension, heavy duty mag spring and green follower and jumbo safety. A leather 6-round shell carrier laced to the stock. I keep this next to my bed. I have another Express that was a pawn shop beater with 26" vent rib barrel that I had parkerized, Scattergun Trijicon sights installed, heavy duty spring and orange follower, forcing cone lengthened, jumbo safety, Choate 9 plus 1 extension as I like them to be just a tad shorter than the barrel. I had the factory wood Dura-Coated OD green and it also wears a 6-round leather shell carrier. I also have a 870 Marine that I had Scattergun Trijicon sights installed on, barrel threaded for choke tubes and forcing cone lengthened, green follower and jumbo safety. It too wears a 6-round leather shell carrier and stays behind the rear passenger seat of my pickup. I recently picked up a new Express with Nutmeg laminated wood and 28" barrel. I bought a 20" Imp. Cyl. 20" rifle sight barrel for it and had the forcing cone lengthened in it. Installed a Scattergun Technolgy 1-round extension and jumbo safety. My 18 and almost 15 year old boys each have a factory 20" parkerized rifle sight Police Model that I had threaded for choke tubes and added a Scattergun technology 1-shot extension and jumbo safety. Both also wear 6-round leather shell carriers and they are kept in their rooms in a corner. I bought my wife a 20 gauge youth Express and my gunsmith buddy made a full length tube extension for it, installed a jumbo safety and added a Meprolight bead and LimbSaver recoil pad. I'm not very tactical when it comes to my 870's...no lights...no rails or folding/pistol grip stocks. I certainly have no problem with these accessories, but elect to keep things simple for my uses. I've attended shotgun training at Gunsite, Thunder Ranch and Mid-South and used the same well worn box stock 870 Wingmaster with 20" rifle sight barrel, factory wood replaced with factory Police oil finished wood and a Milt Sparks 6-round leather shell carrier at all three. It functioned flawlessly with nary a hitch. I recently had my gunsmith go through it completely and replace any worn parts as I've owned it for many years...it was in need of very minor repair and I'm certain it will last me the rest of my days. Glad to be here...was a lurker for quite sometime. I look forward to learning and contributing if possible.

My father was a taxidermist, ameteur gunsmith, mechanic and relaoder and hunter and I grew doing these things with him to the best of my abliity lol.. I would welcome your input and answers to my questions and comments in the forum!
