New from the PNW

Post by mercman »

Greetings! I'm an 870 owner and have carried an 870 as a patrol weapon for over 25 years. Very comfortable with the platform. It is my go to weapon for most of my long gun needs. I have several 870's, mostly older wingmasters that I picked up at garage sales. I did recently add an 870 Express home defense to my stables and so far have about 800 trouble free rounds down the tube. I also recently acquired a Remington 11-87 but as of yet have not done much with it.

I did just order a nonMIM extractor, a Vang Comp large head safety and a stainless Wilson mag tube follower for the Express. None of those items have proved less than reliable so far but I will change them out regardless and save the originals for spares.

I look forward to chatting about this fine platform.

Thanks, Vitaly,

I also recently upgraded my duty 870 with a Vang Comp 18" barrel with comp and rifle sights. I did notice a tighter buckshot group and slightly better slug grouping at 75 yds. I got a deal on the barrel and only paid $200 for what is normally a $400 barrel. Happy about that. That SG has a Choate pistol gripped stock and the standard Sidesaddle shell holder (I mount this on all my 870's).

BTW, nice forum you have here. It's rounded out my online adventures.

Regards, Kurt
