Greetings from The Republic of Texas

Post by Zebra62 »

Hello to Everyone.

I am Zebra and I am a new 870 owner. Well, my wife is, anyway. I just bought it for her for home defense for when I am away on "BUSINESS". I like the look of the forum and I see that everyone is very helpful. That is good for me because I know very little about the 870 and will try to soak up as much free knowledge as I can.

Please be patient with me as I ask my silly questions.

Thanks for letting me join.

Welcome to the forum, and well done on thinking ahead and taking the first steps to equip your family to defend themselves. Firearms are useful and enjoyable, but they can also be quite dangerous if used improperly, so don't be shy about asking questions if there's something you're unsure about.

What model 870 did y'all buy?

Thanks Y'all.

We bought an 870 Express youth 20 gauge. Gypsy, My Wife, is only five feet tall and the longer stocks on the "ADULT" models was too long for her. The youth model fits her much better and the 20 gauge doesn't kick nearly as hard as my 12 gauge Mossberg 500 Cruiser. She can actually use this one and not hurt herself.

Thats a great idea. I've thought about getting one of those to let my wife use. I have an 870 I keep loaded but i'm sure it is too much for her right now. But she can handle my glock 17 with ease. I think she can handle my 870 but she doesn't have that much experience with long guns and is kinda afraid of recoil haha.

Welcome to the forum! I think that it is very good idea to get 20 gauge shotgun for your wife.
