new from New Hampshire
i got my first personally owned 870 a couple months ago, loving it so much already!! especially as it was a combo deal where i get the 23" fluted barrel and the 20" cantilevered rifled barrel as well.

hobylicious, welcome to the forum! What slugs do you shoot out of the rifled barrel?

i tend to use winchester super Xs because they're reliable and cost effective, but when i have money i get some remington rifled slugs to guarantee perfect placement.

I really like those Remington Slugger Foster-style slugs. I've still got the silhouette target that received a .73-caliber hole dead-center in the throat from a plain vent-rib barrel 50 yards away.hobylicious wrote:when i have money i get some Remington rifled slugs to guarantee perfect placement.
To really drive tacks and take full advantage of the rifled barrels, you should check out the AccuTip sabot slugs. They've got a really cool design, and everyone seems to swear by them.

Yeah, but you get what you pay for with them.hobylicious wrote:damn man those are like $3 a shot. i better be ready 100% to pull that trigger...no paper shots for those.
There are other sabot slugs out there that are simpler and more affordable. These sabot slugs are designed specifically for rifled shotgun barrels, and are more accurate out of them than than Foster (or so-called "rifled") slugs.
