Another Texan...

Post by afff_667 »

With the current political uproar, I'm looking to diversify my shooting to include an 870. Up until now, it's been nothing but pistols and ARs, so it looks like I need to gather the needed information and begin the building process again towards acquisition and necessary training.

I'm not new to shotguns having bird hunted all of my life. In fact, my favorite hunting shotguns are an 870 in 16 gauge inherited from my fraternal grandfather and an old Remington Model 11 in 20 gauge inherited from my maternal grandfather. I'm happy to find this site so that I can build upon the hard won knowledge and experience of others. I'm looking forward to the journey...

afff_667, welcome to the blog! Remington 870 is very good choice because it is versatile and you can also easily reload ammunition yourself.

Welcome to the forums.

Cool to see a 16ga; My grandpa owns a 16, and really likes it. If manufacturers ever get around to releasing a 3" magnum 16ga shell and a better variety of shotguns that shoot it, I think it could become very popular. Even now though, it's a pretty capable middle-ground between the 12 and 20.
