Greetings from Hawaii/Florida!

Post by jbaskinusn »

Well, I live in Hawaii but I buy all my guns in Florida when I go home. Just brought my new 870 Express Tactical home.

I thought it was odd, because I know how much the Express Tac is supposed to cost, and mine was half that, but also lacked the top rail, and the choke,

Heading to the Bushnell, FL gun show tomorrow and see what goodies I can find for her.

Enjoy

Welcome to the forums, and congratulations on your purchase!

Your gun was less expensive than other tactical models because it's one of the new (for 2012) HD 870s. They have a longer 6+1 magazine tube (instead of the standard 4+1 & +2 extension) for simplified take-down & maintenance, and don't include the "tacti-cool" bells and whistles that aren't really that useful just for HD.

They're nice for dedicated home defense, but you should be aware (if you're not already) that you won't be able to swap any other barrels onto that gun without modification, since the non-standard magazine length requires the barrel's guide ring to be attached farther forward than other 12ga 870 barrels.

So, went to both Gun Shows in the area, and picked this gem up at one:

It's the Aimpoint MTQSG-1 Quad Rail. I also picked up the scabbard that's attached to my rush72 pack. The 870 fits in it even with the quad rail.

And a shot of my other two guns.

Thanks!

I didn't have it on for the picture, but I have a 100rd CMAG for the M4. I love that thing!

In 870 news, I also ordered a +1 Mag Tube extension, and the SJ Follower.

Ill post my setup when I get the rest of the parts I need. So far, I got SX ghost ring sights on mine, with magpul stock and for end. I'm waiting for my magpul clamp and installing quick detach two point slings on it.. After that all I need are some quick detach lights on it. I have already upgraded the follower, dog spring and the non MIM extractor. So soon as brownells sends me my 400 rounds of 7.62x39 and my other orders then ill be happy!
