How to find sn of rifle
How to find sn of rifle
My father passed away last year and left all his guns to me. Well he had a new in box Dale earnhardt .22 rim fire rifle that he always told us was the last one off the "assembly line" that Friday before Dale earnhardt died that Sunday at Daytona! I can't seem to find that information, the serial number for last one made, anywhere! Of course me yelling at google threw voice typing isn't a very effective way to find stuff I've found out! Any help will be appreciated! Thank you
Re: How to find sn of rifle
In general most serial numbers are either on the left-hand-side of a right-handed action, or on the stock tang, or perhaps underneath but "should be" on the physical part of the action receiver, not on an accessory that can be removed like the floorplate. Some pictures may help us help you. Unless the rifle was made pre-'68, before S/N's were required.

Remington’s website says they were made in the year 2000, and DE was killed in 2001. It couldn’t have been made the same weekend he was killed.

Re: How to find sn of rifle
Sorry to hear about your dad. That rifle sounds pretty special. I had a similar issue with tracking down details for a collectible my grandfather left me. Reaching out directly to the manufacturer or a firearms collector’s group might be your best bet. They often have insights that you won’t find online.
