For a Zombie Gun 870...
I think I’d start with a 12ga 870 Police (durability)
Add Plus +3 mag Extension (total of 8 rounds in gun)
Cut the stock short or Magpul with no plates , so long enough to shoulder if needed but short enough for close fighting.
Barrel smooth bore, no choke (I think) and would be cut down to 18 or 19-ish but add a breacher to bring it just past the mag tube extension. Add a light and a Spike (spike vs bayonet, zombies don’t die from cuts, so spike to head is better and won’t get stuck as easy.
Heat Shield for sure so holding barrel area won’t be a problem if need to use as club or get better grip to push or pull.
Definitely some type of single point sling for widest range of movement.
Extra ammo I think I’d keep on a vest to keep the gun lite and really I think grabbing a round from a vest is as fast as from a sidesaddle and a vest can hold more.
And finally a BIG ASS GLOW IN THE DARK BEAD SIGHT odds are you won’t have time or distance to do a lot of aiming and you need head shots every time.
And as much as I hate to say it , I think really I’d rather start with Mossberg 590A1
