Good to have been invited and found y'all. Long time light familiarity with the 870 platform as a LEO. For the purpose of assuring safety in the home and for travel through contested areas like Seattlestan, Washingtonistan (WA), I researched for what would best serve my needs in supplementing the tools already in possession. This resulted in a fairly recent (going on 2 years) introduction to Remington's TAC-14 DM.
First up was to find a diet for my new friend. For that, I hastily got enough 2¾" 00 buck and slug rounds to tide me over until better nourishment could be found. For that, War Hag provided the maximum length of 3" rounds in both 15-pellet 00 Buck and 1+oz sabot slugs. Being concerned about the possibility of deer-sized animals with body armor, the sabot slugs which are marketed as "Armor Penetrating" seemed to fit the bill, while similar animals without armor would be served 00 Buck.
Naturally, the focus has expanded over time to the myriad of accessories available for the 870 platform, and I've become the figurative "kid in the candy store" getting goodies for "Ticky-TAC" with an eye toward combat functionality (The deer-sized animals in a midnight blue environment are abundant!), and I have an aversion to malfunctions. Though other parts and accessories are already accessorizing Ticky-TAC's wardrobe, and as my detailed familiarity with the 870 platform is considerably lacking, I only found out about the original extractor problems a month ago or so. As I've also provided my housemate with an all-original TAC-14 DM (I believe that units should be armed alike as far as possible, so that parts and nutrition are shareable.), I read up and researched what would best "cure" any potential extraction malfunctions, settling on the Volquartsen Firearms (Volquartsen.Com; 1-712-792-4238; Info@Volquartsen.Com) replacement, which arrived yesterday. Today's short project is scheduled, after which I'll be researching other malfunction-prone areas of concern.
As yet, I don't know what I don't know, so helpful ideas are welcomed. Until the climate gets calmer and storm clouds recede, probably in 2-4 years, if i'm reading "climate change" properly, Ticky-TAC won't be sent anywhere; if work is beyond my level of skill but still needs doing, Ticky-TAC and I will drive there together and, while my new black friend is getting changes, I'll be standing guard with at least 2 other wardrobe accessories being worn. (I believe that properly heeled gentlemen — and ladies, as well! — should be attired in such a manner as to meet and manage threats at all times, competently, safely, and with dispatch.)

Plate or not I have to think getting a smack by a 525 gr Lyman slug is gonna take the fight out of ANY deer for quite a long time. Where can one find these AP slugs?
