Hello folks, I just discovered this forum after purchasing a used Remington 870 Wingmaster. I purchased it from a local pawn shop after doing a lot of research on buying a used shotgun. I knew I did not want an Express. My intent is to use it for home defense-and hope & pray I never have to use it in anger! At any rate, I’m glad I found this forum, and I’m trying to learn all about the 870. Peace.

Welcome, and you should be happy with that purchase. Although I suspect an Express would have served you just as well. Congrats!

Hi! I'm Jeff and this is my first time here. I'm interested in some of these shotgun varieties and I'd like to know more about them. I wasn't aware that there are several kinds apart from the standard one. A little bit of background about me, I recently....as a way to past the time. There are other games that I sink my hours into as well.

New member here all the way from Aberdeen, NJ. Brand new gun owner and looking to learn all I can. First purchase is an 870 Express. I plan to get take a coupe of one on one classes at my gun club.

Excellent! Don't let anyone convince you the Express is inferior. Learn to use it, break it in by shooting the hell out of it, and then do the mods you like, if any. I've had an Express since the late 80s/early 90s (been so long I can't really recall) and it's been more reliable than my Police. Both are tuned to perfection now. Welcome, enjoy the site,
