Front sight mounting question

Post by j04blacksss2 »

Hey guys, Do any of you know how this sight would be mounted to this gun. The sight is a Midwest Industries front BUIS, but it looks like it mounts to a Picantinny rail. How else would you guys mount something like this to a barrel?

Would this little guy work? Any have one of these? Pros/cons?

A bolt on sight that just clamps to a smooth round surface seems sketchy. I wouldnt trust it.

Are you after a front sight that will pop up when deployed? Then yeah, probably the only way to go. You could set the rail to the barrel with loctite/rockset/JB Weld etc. if you were worried about movement. Lot of faffing though. And will you want a back sight to suit too as the front one will be pretty high... which would lead me to worry about cheek weld on the stock....

If you're not after the 'pop-up' part, there are plenty of 870 sights that I'm sure will suit. What's interesting you in this sight set up? What kind of set up are you running on your gun? Sure we can find ya something.

I currently just have a bead sight in front. I went to a local gun smith down here and he gave me a quote of $200 just for labor to put on the front sight an drill an tap receiver for rear sight and a picatinny rail. Is that about right? I would like the ghost ring sights

I think i'd be shopping around a bit! Think my last front sight drill and tap cost me all of $30, including the chopping down of a barrel. Hell, you could buy a new barrel for less than $200 if you're in the states: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/921370 ... parkerized

Personally I like Tritium. Damn useful at night.
