Hey y’all. Glad to be here. I’ve owned my 870 Wingmaster since 1990. Bought it at a gun show in Dallas, Tx. I used to hunt Quail in my college years in Texas. I got this out the other day for the first time in probably 25 years. It’s still in pretty good shape - just some scuffs and a couple spots that might become rust.
I went pistol shooting yesterday with a friend who I told about my 870. He said I should look up the serial number because the older ones are desirable. I really don’t intend to sell it, but I’m now curious about its age & provenance. I can’t find any stampings on the barrel that show date. Serial number starts with S710 and ends with a V (which I believe indicates 12Guage).
It’ll be fun to discuss and document the restoration.

Welcome and howdy. There may be some date codes on the barrel that indicate month/year of manufacture, but since the 870 barrels are (mostly) interchangeable, it may not be the same vintage as your 870 itself. The only true way is to call or e-mail Remington's customer service with the serial # and they can tell you the date of manufacture of the receiver.
