Discuss all accessories and upgrades available for the Remington 870 shotgun: stocks, forends, barrels, chokes, magazine extensions, followers, safeties, sights etc.
Need some help here. My 870 Youth did not come with a front sling swivel stud. No problem right, new magazine cap with the right stud and ….. wait! The 20-ga youth does not have the ball & detent ratcheting system like the 12-ga Express. Here's what I received (left) in an Uncle Mikes 1800-5 package that claims to be for the 20-ga, and on the right was the original (sans any stud).
There problem is internal: my replacement seems to be for the ball & detent system (left) while my original (right) has an internal ratchet system.
Yea, trouble is some of them say "detented", but don't show which method is used. There can be a ball detent, or the ratchet-type detent that is on the magazine spring retainer. Sheesh......

Well here's your sign of the times. I searched for "Uncle Mike's 18005" or "...1800-5". Could not find any in stock. Tried MidwayUSA, tried Brownells, tried OpticsPlanet, tried Midsouth Shooters Supply, Numrich, Widener's.... all no luck. Either didn't have that part number or it wasn't in stock.
And then I had an epiphany. Yes, friends and neighbors, boys and girls. They are available in plenty. On Alibaba Express (AliExpress), the Chinese Amazon. And sadly. much cheaper than any US price I could find. I have two options ordered and coming to me with free shipping. And unlike every US website that gave you one picture without any details, Alibaba gives you 4-6 images plus a detailed one inside to show the proper ratcheting retaining system. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/SWIVEL- ... 4c4dcfKoIr
Sigh. Nothing like being a "buy American" guy in an Alibaba world.....

I've never ordered anything from them, but certainly would if the need arose. I try to buy American products whenever possible, even if the cost is a little higher, but sometimes that's just not an option.

I thought I'd check there on the offhand, because I've been very surprised at what you find. A couple years ago I bought a Bose Soundlink-Mini bluetooth speaker off the site, but the ad for it didn't say "Bose" it said some other name. So I figured I was getting a second/scartch-n'-dent/etc. Nope, mine showed up saying "Bose", but I paid about 1/5th of what Bose charges for them. Lots of small technogadgets, but I never tried them for firearms stuff since I know China is not quite as "free" as society here. I was pleasantly suprised.

Here may be your fix. Remington has a Universal cap that is serrated on the inside of the cap for the newer barrels and serrated on the outside for the older barrels and comes with a stud for the stock. The 20ga part number is 19461.

Thanks. The pics on Remington's website sure don't help them sell anything, because those back-side images weren't available to help my buying decision. But thanks for the info.
