I saw that Numrich has a new “corncob” forend listed, would this fit on a new 870?

Can you link to the page? There are several different 870 fore-ends that could be called "corncob-style"

Yeah, that should fit a modern 12ga 870. You might be more likely to burn your fingers with that early style of fore-end though; there's a reason newer fore-ends extend farther up along the barrel.
