Discuss all accessories and upgrades available for the Remington 870 shotgun: stocks, forends, barrels, chokes, magazine extensions, followers, safeties, sights etc.
Has anyone has this issue? I have a 870 tactical model and I bought the 870 SGA stock. It doesn't quit sit flush with the receiver. The angles are just slightly off. It's hard to see in the photo but I tried to get some pics of what I'm talking about. The angles of the stock done quit line up with the angles of the receiver.

Magpul SGA stock, M-lok forend, ms3 sling, Wilson combat follower/spring, vangcomp safety, volquartsen extractor, heavy carrier spring, Nordic barrel clamp.
I haven't looked closely at 870s with the Magpul stock enough to notice whether they align perfectly or not. It's not uncommon for there the be very slight mismatches between 870 receivers and stocks; these aren't $2000 hand-fit shotguns, and it's hard to have perfect QC across so many different aftermarket companies.
Try loosening the stock mounting screw and see if you can shift the stock for slightly better alignment; there's generally a little bit of play there. If that doesn't completely solve it and the look really bugs you, you could simply sand or file the plastic for a better fit.

Thanks for the info. What you said makes sense, I just need to not be OCD about it lol. I tried loosening and adjusting it but it's still off. The angels just aren't right. Still a nice stock even if the build quality is perfect.

I'm OCD about that kind of stuff also. I casted aside a Supercell recoil pad once cause it wouldn't line up properly on one of my stocks. I been trying to find a close up for ya, but no luck? I was just thinking about ordering some Mag furniture for my HD shotgun, but not if it isn't gonna fit properly. I will ask around some of the other forums I belong to for ya...

Thanks man. The stock goes tight to the receiver so it will function good. Just has my OCD going with the angles not lining up lol.

The lip that sticks out past the sides of the recievers, in the high dollar shotgun world, is referred to as "PROUD".
Meaning, it sticks out and doesn't fit flush.
If I were guessing, at some point, something has changed. Whether with the shotgun receiver or the stock/mold. Though I have no hands on with the magpul stock any way so I don't know if they're an ideal fit or not in the first place.
Another possibility for the disrepency, is once the stock is ejected from the mold, it may had still be a little warm and possibly gotten a little wonky at that point too. Not sure, just trying to come up with some possibilities.
But I agree with the above, if it bugs you, file the offensive edge off. Or angle it somewhat so that it blends better so it's not as "proud".

Being a Tactical model it probably had synthetic furniture on it to begin with? Its a plate that fits over the receiver stud that keeps the wood on a stock from cracking/splintering when under recoil. I never knew that was called the proud though, that's cool. Still digging for some info/pictures for ya...
