Hello from Western Kentucky, USA.

Post by L M Maurice »

I am new, since March 1, 2012, and I have enjoyed and used a lot of the info I have gathered from this site and forum. I have owned and hunted with a couple of 870's in my life. One I got in 1980, 12 gauge Wingmaster 3" Mag, and another I won a few years later, 12 ga Express. I used my 870's for ducks, geese, Bob White quail and doves. Great guns and as is often stated here, The more you shoot them the better they are. When you can hold the gun vertically, depress the forearm release and the forearm mechanism slides 1/2 way to the receiver you have a winner. I eventually went to a automatic for ducks and geese because when I used 3" shells I would "short shuck" the forearm and jam the gun. I usually just got one shot at waterfowl. I shot at a lot of doves, 2 3/4 " shells and developed some bad habits!
I purchased a new Express in Dec. of 2011, found this forum and have been modifing my gun since.
With the help of the information from this forum I have installed:
18 1/2" Barrel w/ bead site, Nordic +1 Mag Extension to mount light, CDM Gear Mod C flashlight mount w/ Stramlight Polytac Light, S&J Mag Follower Type 2 Green, S&J oversized safety( Painted the red band on), Hogue Forarm and Regular LOP Stock. I chose all of these items because the people on this site had tried out and evaluated all of these as well as a lot more. I picked out what I thought was best for me. I installed the regular LOP stock because I plan to use this gun for hunting, with the 26" barrel that came with it. Thanks to Harris Tactical, Robert, for their customer service and quick response to my questions. The CDM Gear MOD C clamp is a piece of art. Great finish and fit.

Welcome to the forum! I am happy to hear that blog/forum was useful for you. Remington 870 shotguns are very popular around the world and all love them. Upgrading a Remington 870 is very addictive as one of the readers said :)
