Supermag forend

Post by brianf60 »

Can someone tell me what forends fit my supermag. I bought a Magpul stock then realized that there forend says it will not fit. Can it be modified to fit? Or what other options do I have. I have wasted way too much time on google and still no answer. Thanks

Most 870 fore-ends should be compatible with SuperMag models, but some 3rd-party fore-end designs don't allow the SuperMag slide to travel far enough back to fully cycle the action.

Try installing your fore-end on your SuperMag fore-end tube assembly, then reassemble the action, but leave the barrel off. Move the slide as far as it'll go to the rear, and see if any part of the fore-end is touching the front of the receiver. If there's no point where the plastic is touching the receiver, you should be good to go. If the fore-end is hitting the receiver, carefully file or grind the plastic down at the interference points until the slide can travel fully rearward without the fore-end touching the receiver.

Just to update. The Magpul MOE forend fits perfect on the supermag. No mods needed. I've shot a couple of hundred target loads through it so far. The travel or stroke is exactly the same as the OEM forend. I made a few measurements.
