Do all/most 870 for ends interchange with all other models of the 870? Like the super mag and sup mag exp? I'd like to get a new factory 870 police synthetic but want
To make sure it will fit. Thanks

All 12ga 870 fore-ends are interchangeable with the exception of special short fore-ends like those used on the 870 MCS and Special Field (even then though, I'm pretty sure you can get them to work by using the correct fore-end tube assembly). Apart from that, everything's interchangeable, though some fore-ends may need a bit of tweaking to function properly on a SuperMag.

One thing to consider if you use a side saddle shell carrier you need a short forend like used on a police mag or such or it will hit the shell holder. Fitting and working can be different critters.

So the Super-Mag forend tube assembly is different than the Wingmaster/Express/Police version?

Re: 870 vs mag express-parts
Yes, SuperMag 870s do use a special fore-end tube assembly that is different from those used by other 12ga models. Remington's parts list shows a different item for SuperMags, and I've seen folks have function issues when they didn't pay close attention to part descriptions, and installed a SuperMag fore-end tube assembly on the wrong receiver.
I don't know all the specific differences off the top of my head, but I believe most of them have to do with the action bars, since SuperMags also have unique slide & breech bolt assemblies, and need to be timed for the longer shells. I've heard from others that the fore-end tubes themselves are very similar, but because the SuperMag tubes come slightly closer to the front of the receiver, some fore-ends designed for standard 870s need to have a bit of material removed to prevent interference.
If I can remember next time I visit a gun shop, I'll bring my magnum fore-end tube assembly in, and ask permission to take apart a SuperMag so I can identify the differences.

Thanks. It'd be good to know since lot's of times in horse-trades, I wind up with boxes of parts.
