Discuss all accessories and upgrades available for the Remington 870 shotgun: stocks, forends, barrels, chokes, magazine extensions, followers, safeties, sights etc.
From the pics, it seems that the barrels from the Express Tactical Magpul (model 81209) and the Express Synthetic 7-Round (model 25077) should be interchangeable. Can anybody confirm this? I really like the Magpul version's sight and aggressive looking extended tactical choke. Just curious if this is possible. If so, I am assuming I'd have to order directly from Remington. Right? Thank you for your reply.

Yup, you're good to go. Any barrel from the new one-piece 6-round mag 870s will swap to another of similar type. You do not have to order from Remington though. I've ordered a barrel from Midway USA, there are many retailers for genuine Remington barrels. Just be absolutely sure whatever you order will fit that 6-round tube. Be safe, have fun!

Like Chief Brody said, all barrels meant for receivers with single-piece 6-round magazine tubes are interchangeable. However, while the bead sight on the barrel you have now is meant to be used by itself with just the top of the receiver as a rear element, the front blade sight on the Express Tactical Magpul barrels are intended to be paired with a rear ghost ring. If you get a barrel with that front blade, you'll also need to get that rear sight and have your receiver drilled and tapped to install it.
If it floats your boat and you have the money to spare, go ahead. But be aware that that breacher choke is really just a cosmetic touch, and there's nothing wrong with a simple bead sight.
Thank you both for your input. I'm glad to hear that those barrels are interchangeable, and especially for the warning about the rear sight requirement. I knew about the choke and, to be honest, that was the only reason I wanted it. In light of your posts, I think I will stick with my current set up. Again, thank you for your wisdom.

If you're just after that breacher choke, you could have your current barrel threaded for choke tubes. Or, Remington makes a long-mag, bead sight, Rem Choke barrel for their #81193 Express Pistol Grip model. I don't know the part number or price for that barrel off the top of my head, but you should be able to track it down if you call Remington.
