I also got myself some new upgrades today
So I had to run to the base to do some paperwork for work... Ya, on my day off. Anyway, decided to make a run over to the BX while on base to see if they had any new weapons stuff in stock that might go nice with my new tactical. I was initially looking for and hoping for a Mesa side saddle and Magpul SGA stock as I've seen them there previously, but they weren't in stock. Lucky for me, I've made it a mission to make friends with the gun counter manager, so he ordered them for me to arrive on Wednesday. He did however have some stuff in stock to allow me to get started. Instead of going with the Magpul MOE forend, I decided to go with the Mako tactical forend with the 3 rails on it for a little more capability. I also picked up a Magpul SGA Receiver Sling Adapter Mount to go with the ordered stock and to use with my single point sling, and a Magpul MOE Rail Vertical Grip to attach to the new forend. The last thing I picked up was a box of the Magpul XTM Enhanced Rail Panels to throw on the rails until I get some stuff on them. The best part about it... The BX is cheaper than anywhere online or local, and it's all tax free. I spent the afternoon installing the parts I could and I'm initially very pleased with them. They all feel solid and look nice. I'm going to hold out for the rest of the parts then take her out for a test run and see how she feels. It's a start and so far I'm liking it, having only owned hunting 870's in the past.

I try to buy all I can at the Camp Pendleton Exchange for the reasons you stated. I got my 870 HD Tactical there a couple months ago for $414.00 out the door, $389 plus $25 for the CA DROS. I had seen the exact same model at a LGS for $449.99 + CA DROS + Tax.

I think that's the same deal I got on my tactical at my BX, $389 minus the $25 of course being in Wyoming. But still, much better deal than anywhere in town and as always tax free. That's probably a significant advantage being in California for sure. It's nice to also be able to get some of the accessories there too. Much better prices than anywhere I've found anywhere else.navyshooter wrote:I try to buy all I can at the Camp Pendleton Exchange for the reasons you stated. Camp Pendleton is the only one out of 6 bases in san Diego County that sells firearms in the Exchange. Lucky for me it's the closest base to where I live
