I bought a home defense 870 Express Magnum for my wife in the early nineties.
She shot it a few times but it normally sits loaded in a corner of our closet.
The serial number is 'AnnnnnnM' which I believe suggests that it was manufactured in March 1992.
Recently, I got it out and was attempting to clear ammo and ran into an issue which involved finding a 9/16 inch long by 3/8 inch diameter spring in the chamber. The sear spring is intact.
I will post my issue to see if anyone can assist me to ensure the gun is safe to fire.

I don't know enough to hive good enough advice to make the gun safe and ready to fire. My guess is that it is from the trigger assembly, possibly the safety's spring.

The "A" means the gun was manufactured somewhere between 1991 and 1994. The "M" only indicates that the receiver can cycle 12ga 3" magnum shells. If you want to know exactly when the gun was manufactured, you can look up the date stamp on the barrel (if you know that it's the original barrel), or contact Remington with your full serial number.

Welcome. Good luck getting it fixed! I've got an Express that I was gifted back in '91 or '92.

Go 'Heels!!!
