DaveC, do you like your Eotech IFL? Sounds like a good addition to any Home Defense shotgun.DaveC wrote:No pics...yet. Not much to look at, really:
Mine is a Remington Express synthetic 12-gauge.
18-1/2-in. cylinder bore with front bead made by Mossberg.
Original "dimpled" 4+1 tube magazine loaded with Federal PD No.4 buckshot.
4-shell Tac-star side-saddle with four extra 00 buckshot shells.
Youth sized length-of-pull pistol-grip stock by Choate.
I just installed the EOTech IFL led forend light/ 120 lumens.
This is my “go to” HD shotgun, but I also have a couple double-action revolvers loaded with the so-called "Chicago" load: 158gr. +P LSWCHP Remington .38..
Lets have some pictures of your builds.

thanks for the compliment, my 870 is used for security when we explore the backcountry or camping, fishing, etc. so it gets knocked around a lot, but it still looks good from a distance. here's a couple more pics

byrd900sp, thanks for the pics! I thought that your Remington 870 is rarely used because finish looks very good. Is it Duracoat or Cerakote?byrd900sp wrote:thanks for the compliment, my 870 is used for security when we explore the backcountry or camping, fishing, etc. so it gets knocked around a lot, but it still looks good from a distance. here's a couple more pics

2012 Rem 870 Express Tac 6+1 12ga
Mods
AIM Inc heat shroud and rails
Wilson Combat +1 Extension tube
S&J Hardware Green Follower (waiting to be delivered)
Planned:
Front sight
Leupold 7.5 MOA Delta Reflex optic
Mesa Tactical Urbino Tactical stock
Only issue I have come across yet is the dimples in the mag tube. Luckily, Brownells has this:

to take care of that issue.

Ooh, I don't know about that product. I watched the video there, and seeing that guy banging on his magazine tube without supporting it set my teeth on edge. Not only is that thin metal, it's only brazed to the receiver. I'd recommend doing a little more homework on how to safely remove those dimples without stressing such a critical part of the gun so much. That method may work, but it'd sure be easy to mutilate your mag tube & receiver in the process.jbaskinusn wrote:Only issue I have come across yet is the dimples in the mag tube. Plus, $83 just for the tool? Yikes.
Cool to see someone put a +1 extension on one of those long-tube 870s though, I've always thought that would work on those.

Yea, I've watched the video too when I saw it. I'm just a little uneasy about drilling the dimples out. and there is another method I looked at that was way too intensive. Ultimately, drilling the dimples out may be the easiest/best route.
Re: Lets have some pictures of your builds.
I would just drill out those dimples. Save you time and money!Only issue I have come across yet is the dimples in the mag tube. Luckily, Brownells has this:

to take care of that issue.

Re: Lets have some pictures of your builds.
Drilling leaves two holes in the magazine tube. I have depressed dimples via socket method using 16-17mm socket. But be careful because socket may stuck in magazine tube!Carlo1137 wrote:I would just drill out those dimples. Here are very informative posts about dimples removal from readers of Rem870.com:

Brownells tool is a gunsmith level tool, it is very good but too expensive for one time use.

Got my new barrel today and slapped it on my wingmaster. Kinda made an old school looking shotgun.

Looks awesome! Based on your pictures and some others I've seen recently, I think I'm going to need a chrome bolt for my 870P. Your scrawny picture reminds me of me too haha.. One question, what kind of pony car do you drive?
