I'm beginning to think I'm the only person in Southern California who shoots at anything besides paper.

At least you have small game. Alaska may have moose, huge brown bears, muskox, and so forth but the small game is lacking. Squirrels are the size of gerbils, hares are rare because the eagles enjoy them so much, and there are no turkeys. Black bears may roam freely and be abundant, but a little diversity would be nice.

In my part of Northern Cali I’ve had some trouble finding any place to shoot my 870. Other than one Trap club with a ton of restrictions on who and when one can shoot.

I’ve heard there are some a bit off grid spots people shoot, but haven’t found anyone that know where exactly.

Call BLM. They know the spots they allow on BLM land. Here it's a rocky area in the desert in another county, not ideal, but the spot in this county is closed due to fire risk. And you never know what knuckleheads will be there.

After scouring the country, I got an order for the Stevens Model 301 Turkey 410 to go through. Found it in my home state. Also found 7 boxes of Federal Heavyweight TSS 3" Shotshells in the Midwest and got them ordered. Plus, today I found 100 rounds of cheaper 3" shotshells locally. I may check other local stores. Don't think the ammo situation can guess much worse (knock on wood.)

Figure this 301 will be even more fun than my little Diana Chaser air rifle. Itching to get it all. And to get the new wood stocks for my 870.

Well, we should know in about 24hrs from now. Glad you found some ammo, the hunting loads sections of my LGS look like newly installed shelving, so pristine, clean and .... empty. Trap loads they have, but there's only grouse that fit into that range of shot size as game here. And some folks prefer .22LR for those, which is <choke> plentiful <knee slapper!!!>.

The easiest thing to get seems to be 9mm, which I have plenty of. Need more .38 and .357 - that's tough.

That's odd. My LGS doesn't have anything in the normal calibers, but does have an overload of 10mm. And I mean anything in 9mm, 357, 45ACP, 38 Spec, etc. Nada. But you could load a cart with 10mm and still leave several carts worth.
