BigHog, nice pics! Do you plan to have red dot sight on your shotgun?

I do. I like this Mesa tactical as the Picatinney rail is slightly raised, so you can see the front iron sight underneath. I figure if the scope quits I can still use the iron sights. Not sure if that is necessary, but I like the option. I will try and take a picture of that, so you can see what I mean. I just purchased this http://www.opticsplanet.com/global-mili ... scope.html I will take pictures once I have it mounted on the 870.

Yes, Yes, ... some pics of the sight picture with the saddle on please BigHog.

On the OEM remington picatiny rail mount (which does'nt have a side saddle), the rifle sight is obstructed by the picatiny rail  .

You say that with the Mesa you can still use it by aiming under the rail !!!..... interesting .... I want to see ...

Thanks BigHog,

Ok, taking a picture of this, was harder than I thought. let me know if this works. if not, I will try again. Hopefully you can get the idea of how its sits up a bit. With a cheek weld, it is very easy to see under the rail.

Ohhh!! got it!! .. I see it now.

However, I was under the impession your gun had rifle sights.... but from what I see it's a beed. With rifle sights I dont think they would be usable with the Mesa side saddle + picatiny combination. The rifle sights are a little taller.

With the Remington OEM picatiny you cant aim under the rail, and if you remove the red dot, you can just see a VERY SMALL sight picture of the front & rear rifle sights, but not enough for precision shooting.

Regarding tactical side saddles, I like mine on the buttstock cause that way it is out of the way when I wear my 2pointsling. This way the gun can easily & freely be worn across your chest or back. Also emergency reload speeds from the buttstock saddle is comparable to that of sidesaddles.

Don't you just love 870's ..... !!! ;)

I added a GM-RGRS Reflex Scope. Will be going to the range next week, to see how it holds up under recoil. I have the MOE stock and fore end on order in FDE. I am hoping that's in before I go to the range next week.

BigHog, very nice setup! My friend has similar setup. It works good for him, but I would prefer to have a cheek riser.

Here it is with the MOE Stock and Forend. The Forend does not hit the Mesa side saddle. It also has the MOE single point mount.
