Thanks Automag, the guy I got the 1st 870 from is a real shotgun lover, if you notice he did reworked the tube extension to make it all the same diameter at the end. By the way, what's the purpose of the reduced diameter t the end of the standard tube extension?

The Remington magazine extensions were originally developed for military 870 models. The end is narrower, but it's still wide enough inside to accommodate the magazine spring; so I'm not sure why the previous owner would want to alter the extension unless it was for cosmetic reasons.
