Re: First 870 build
Lots of good stuff there! I think customizing and upgrading a gun is almost as fun as shooting it. Nothing more satisfying than shooting a gun you modded youself!

Re: First 870 build
Just done a little work. SGA Blaze yellow colour fill. Still got another clean up after 24 and another after 48 but this is the result so far to match the happy cap

Would you mind giving me a little info on what exactly you used to yellow the Lettering and the process to do it? Would greatly appreciate it!chrismetallica1 wrote:Just done a little work. Re: First 870 build
Yes no problem.
1. Tape off the area you want to do a colour fill on
2. Clean with isopropyl alcohol. Either 70% medical swabs or liquid IPA 99.99% and cotton balls
3. Use Lacquer sitk by markal. Its made in Chicago by LAC CO. I think Brownells stock it in the us but its this stuff http://www.markal.com/lacquer-stik/
4. Clean excess off with more IPA swabs lightly over the surface. Do fine detailing with q tips dipped in IPA
5. Leave 24 hours do another clean
6.48 another clean
After that the lacquer sets and is pretty much permanent. It works best on smooth surfaces as there is less clean up. The stock wasn't too bad however the texture on the magpul forened is a nightmare. I will be doing a few cleans to get it right

Re: First 870 build
That color fill looks GREAT!!! You make it look easy. I might get brave and try it on my Magpul Stock. Since i have a Rem 870 Express Super Magnum, the Magpul MOE Forend won't fit my gun, or so i'm told (unfortunately). But anyway that yellow color fill job looks awsome! I was going to ask you the same thing, what did you use and how did you do it. Thanks for sharing the info..
I'm gonna ask my local Gunsmith if it would be hard to modify the Magpul Forend to fit my 870. I modified a Mako (Fab Defense) forend to fit rather easily, i just recieved my Speddfeed forend though and i might just stick with that.

I'm gonna give it a go on the Magpul Forend. Ill let you guys know how it goes!!! Would this also work on a stag lower receiver in the logo and safe and fire positions?

JBall, Easy does it with the forend. I just did mine, the texture round the lettering eats colour. Its going to take me a few clean ups to get it right

Re: First 870 build
This is after a couple clean sessions with Q-tips and 99.99% pure isopropyl alcohol. Still got a bit of colour bleed due to the forend texture but nearly there. Should clean up ok with a few more goes just time consuming
