Anyone measure their mag spring length ?

Just finished a build with an 870 Express with a Remington +2 extension. Could only get five 2 3/4" shells in, when I pulled the spring out and measure it, I had 28 inches. Think cutting off 2 inches would allow the sixth shell?

Are you sure there's no plug? I think I can get 5 shells in my 870 Express without a mag extension.
