Discuss all accessories and upgrades available for the Remington 870 shotgun: stocks, forends, barrels, chokes, magazine extensions, followers, safeties, sights etc.

The Remington Express Compact Jr. has the best forend I've seen, but they don't make it for 12 gauge models. It's quite long, extending back to the receiver, so if you have short arms there is always something to grab:
Remington makes that fore-end for 12ga 870s. In fact, it's one of their most widely-used fore-end styles for hunting models, with a ton of different colors & patterns. They're also very easy to find used, I found one for my 870 in an Army surplus store up in Post Falls for just $20 last week.
As for the Hogue fore-end, there's this weird conception among shotgunners that a short fore-end is somehow more "tactical", even if it makes their gun tougher to use. I've even seen folks go with ultra-short-LoP stocks that are way too small for them, just so they don't have to reach as far forward to hold their "tactical" short fore-end.

Well I'll be switched. I saw those models but would have sworn they were offered only in 20 gauge.
Hah! I found it. The reason it was not coming up in the search function is that it is out-of-stock. The 12 ga. part number is F306350 and it is called the "ShurShot Synthetic Forend." No luck at Brownells. You can find it at Midway and on Ebay, but not sold separately -- you have to buy the complete thumb-hole stock set for ~$70 just to get the forend.
Part# F306350 is listed in Remington's parts price list for $29.87, and that fore-end is used on a lot of Express models, not just ones with ShurShot stocks.
If you can't find one of these fore-ends used (and there are plenty of them out there), you should have no problem getting a hold of a factory new one if you call Remington's part's department. Forget their online store, it's terrible for finding actual gun parts.
I did not know you could actually call and talk to a live person on the phone who is not located in India. I will call them tomorrow. I have had very good luck with their parts website hitherto.
I did watch that video, which is where I discovered Remington's parts department. Their website is run by Amazon and works extremely well -- it automatically recognized my Amazon login information and instantly created a new account. My experience with the website was so good (until the forend) that I assumed the video referred to an older version of the website that had been replaced. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work! Lots of useful information. I am not an engineer and am lacking in manual dexterity, so I am a pretty slow learner when it comes disassembly, reassembly, and fitting parts.
Nah, Remington's online store still sucks when it comes to gun parts. It's poorly organized, gives you no way to search by model, and the selection is only a fraction of what is actually available to order. If you can find what you're looking for there, I suppose it does the job, but the parts price list is still the best way to go if you want to see everything, find it easily, and have the most options to pick from.
In case anyone else is interested, here is the contact information for the Remington parts store.
Well, not exactly. I called that number and got an operator for the Shopremingtoncountry.com website. The operator told me that they did not have the forend in stock, but that the "Parts Department" did. I thought they were the parts department. He transferred me to another number. I spent 30 minutes listening to hold music before I gave up.
