Synchronizor, that early military clamp looks like a substantial piece. Are they a rarity?

Edit* It appears they are both rare and expensive!

I like how those old clamps look like, they are rock-solid! But prices are way too high!

OK, here's my problem with the Magpul barrel clamp; some of you may find this pretty feeble, but I'll bet every one of you has had the same problem with something at one time or another.....

1. Had to chase down a longer allen screw because the supplied one was too short. Also, the black allen screws are HARD & I couldn't cut it with my Champ tool, so I went back & bought several to get the right length.

2. Wanted to use my own sling swivel, so I used the supplied nut...finally got it installed, after much frustration & many words.

3. I must admit, once installed, it functions & looks fine.

This is just one of those things that I knew would piss me off everytime I looked at it, which is why I went with the BMT clamp.

So the only issue was the fasteners? Did you need to track down something with a rare or unusual head type or thread standard, or was it just the hassle of having to figure out the right length and go to the hardware store?

It is an 8-32 thread socket head cap screw, which is a standard size. The problem is that the black ones which match the finish of the gun are HARDENED steel that is VERY DIFFICULT to cut to length. So yes, the real hassle is getting the right length screw. I would have thought a company with the reputation of Magpul would have included the proper fasteners.....
