ATI Stock

hi all!
brand new to this forum, in fact very first shotgun. its a Remington 870 12 gauge police magnum. normally a pistol guy I just couldn't help
putting a little money in. so I have had it for 2 months and absolutely love it. just to shoot. now with spotting this forum I see things I never new possible on a shotgun and now slowly doing a buildjob(slowly) myself. I don't have the experience or know all the players
but for now just bought a 6 shell sure shot carrier and 8.5 inch rail from mesa tactical. but of course they didn't ship the gasket to save the finish so another call to them tomorrow.
I saw on one of the pages tonight an ATI stock with what looks to be a cheek riser and telescoping stock and a pistol grip. I have to say super impressive. man it was loaded and looking good!!
I will have to go back and see the user name is.
question for anybody, now that I have mesa tactical sure shell carrier and rail, Will the ATI telescoping, pistol grip stock fit on my rem870
in a 13"? and how comfortable is it compared to the rem870 supercell? Mesa Tactical also has there version as well. kind of a major decision on the stock....any advise would be appreciated as I go forward.Thanks guys and girls.

Pictures of the exact parts you're referring to would help, but as long as it's not one of the stocks that extends up over the top of the receiver:

You shouldn't have any interference issues with a trigger pin-mounted top rail.

and how comfortable is it compared to the rem870 supercell? Mesa Tactical also has there version as well. kind of a major decision on the stock....any advise would be appreciated as I go forward.Thanks guys and girls.

People will have different preferences, but you're probably not going to find an AR-style stock to be as comfortable as a solid stock with a good recoil pad. If you just want something that looks cool and you're willing to give up some shooting comfort, go for it. But if you want to keep the comfort of your SuperCell pad with something that looks different from a vanilla synthetic stock, there are a couple other options. Magpul offers a SuperCell adapter for their popular SGA stock:


And Remington makes SuperCells that fit the SpeedFeed shotgun stocks:


Either of these might be an option if you don't have to have an AR-style setup.

The Remington™ Supercell is one of, if not the most, comfortable pads I have ever used. It looks stock on the Magpul with the SGA Adaptor. Can't go wrong with that setup in my opinion.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I have a question in regards to the ATI stock. So rather than starting another, I figured I'd post it here. Has anyone actually used the telescoping stock? If so, do you find it comfortable? Well built? I'm looking at it for the ease of my lady using the gun as well as myself, the LOP is currently too long for her. Any input that y'all can provide would be much appreciated. Thank you much.

I've never used the ATI stock, or any other collapsible AR-style stock, so I can't comment on them directly. However, if you want to avoid the complexity and potential discomfort of a collapsible stock; another option you could look into is a short-LoP or youth stock, sized for the smallest person in your household that may need to use the gun. A large person can use a stock designed for a smaller person much more effectively then the other way around. It may not be a perfect fit for the larger person, but this isn't a carefully-tailored competition gun, it's a last-ditch defensive shot-chucker. As long as everyone can shoot it without breaking their nose, it should be acceptably functional.

Î This. In my case, a Choate-mfr. pistol-grip youth length-of-pull stock for the Rem. 870.

A standard, non-pistol grip stock offers a lot on a shotgun. I went with a pistol grip so I could hold it into my shoulder one-handed better, while I used my other hand to reload, operate a phone, turn a door-knob or whatever. I'd not use one at all on a Mossberg 590 or 500 given where the safety is on the tang.
