Are door breachers removable?

Post by Benjammin »

I see alot of models online that have door breachers on the barrel (specifically I have my eye on the Tactical 7 shot w/ sights), though I have no need or desire for such a feature. I guess it wouldnt be in the way, but never the less, are they easily removable? Would it be more practical to get the plain 7 shot model and add sights to it?

Yes, the breacher is simply a Rem Choke screw-in choke tube with a cylinder constriction and an extended external stand-off.

If desired, you can always remove the breacher choke and replace it with any other Rem Choke tube.

If you haven't bought the gun yet, you should be sure to understand that 870s like the one in the picture you linked are specialized variants that are (currently, at least) limited to 18.5" defensive barrels with combat-style sights.

If you want to be able to change barrels for hunting or sporting (or to use different length combat barrels), there are other Tactical 870 models that use the standard receivers.

Great, thanks for the info. I did have one of the 'plain' 7 shot models, but had to sell it a few months back to make ends meet. Now I'm looking for a replacement, and can't help be drawn back to that model. Rifle sights (for slugs) and interchangable barrels are 2 areas that I wasn't quite happy with it. Though I mainly want a shotgun for defense , I do like the idea of being able to put on a longer barrel for skeet shooting (which I would like to try my hand at)

Decisions, decisions
