Hello from England

Post by chrismetallica1 »

Just got round to joining the forum. When I bought my last shotgun I was torn between an 870 and a 590. in the end I got the 590 and did a full build on it

Just got my bonus from work this year so decided to treat myself and ordered an 870 express. Cant wait for it to arrive :)

All the best

Greetings. I didn't think you could own those kind of weapons across the pond any more. I'm glad you can. What kind of muzzle break do you have on that fine looking scatter gun.

Yes firearms law here is pretty restrictive. You can have shotguns with a capacity of 2 in the mag 1 in the chamber on SGC (shotgun certificate) anything more requires a FAC (Firearms certificate) and they require to know what competitions you intend to enter. I shoot Timed and Precision 1 and slug shotgun matches. The 590 I currently have is setup in 10+1. We cant own pistols in the UK unless they have a 12" barrel and rod or brace fitted to make an overall length on 24". Only .22 lr is allowed in semi auto. All other actions must be bolt action, straight pull, lever action or lever release :(

The muzzle brakes are fitted by Mossberg on UK export. UK law says shotguns must have a minimum barrel length of 26" so Mossberg fit the brakes on at the factory for UK export to take the barrel to the correct length

I wasn't aware you could get firearms like that in the UK anymore, either. Last I heard, your Olympic shooting teams had to leave the country to practice (not sure on the details though, that might just be a handgun thing). Glad to hear things aren't completely hopeless for shooting enthusiasts over there.

Would like to see the expressions turning up to your local driven pheasant shoot with that!
